The 5th CIRP Conference on Surface Integrity (CIRP CSI 2020) will take place in the Europa Conference and Exhibition Centre (Palacio Europa, Av. Gasteiz, 85, 01009) in Vitoria-Gasteiz, capital of the Basque Country

The Basque Country is one of the safest places in Europe, ranking over twenty points lower than the EU average. However, it is always wise to be careful of one’s personal belongings, especially in crowded areas.

  • Drinking Water - Tap Water

Tap water is safe to drink anywhere in the Basque Country unless indicated otherwise. You can also buy mineral water at convenience stores, supermarkets, and station kiosks, etc.

  • Currency Exchange

The official currency of Spain is the EURO (€) and only the EURO is accepted when paying in cash.

  • Electricity

The local power supply is uniformly 230 Volts, and the frequency is 50 Hz. The type of power outlet/connector is “Type C” which is either a two round-pin type or has two round pins with two earth clips on the side.

  • Sales Tax Rate

Sales tax is 21%. 

  • Taxis

The taxis in Vitoria - Gasteiz have an initial fare of € 3 daytime and € 3.50 at night, with additional costs depending on distance covered and time elapsed. The minimum fares are of € 4.50 daytime and € 5.50 at night.

Payment is made when you reach your destination and the exact fare is shown clearly on the meter, for transparency and assurance.

  • Smoking

Smoking is permitted only in designated areas. Public transportation such as trains, buses and taxis are non-smoking. Smoking is prohibited in bars, restaurants, and hotels.

Metric (kg, g, l, m, km, cm, etc.).

  • Liability

The Organizing Committees and/or Conference Organizers will not be held liable for personal accidents, losses, or damage to private property of registered delegates to the Conference. Delegates should make their own arrangements as regards personal insurances.
